Shallow platter or dish in bubinga - one of the few tropical hardwoods I use, and then only if I know that it has come from a sustainable source - I bought a large board a few months ago and it satisfies those requirements. I look for boards which have both the red heartwood and the paler sapwood - this was a beautiful example (other pieces made from the same board are also on Seek and Adore). It's quite a thin piece but makes an excellent display item or fruit dish, the raised bead serves to delineate the rim from the dish part.
